Snapdeal users decide Diwali sale selection: Products on sale as per choices made by nearly 1.25 Lakh users from 92 cities

Gadgets for home use, kitchenware, gift items, ethnic fashion & home decor top buyer wish lists 

Online selection of products from NGOs will recreate Diwali Mela feel and help support worthy causes 

Additional festive discount offers for card users of HDFC Bank, Bank of Baroda, Ratnakar Bank and Paytm  

Gurugram, October 08, 2020: India’s leading value-focused e-commerce marketplace, Snapdeal today announced its first sale of the festival season. Snapdeal’s “Kum Mein Dum” Diwali Sale will start from October 16th and will continue till 20th October ’20.

To prepare for the sale, Snapdeal asked its users to select products that they would like to purchase this Diwali. The “Kum Me Dum” sale selection is built around the choices indicated by more than 1.25 Lakh participants across 92 cities.

42% of the users made choices relating to gadgets for daily use. Kitchenware was the second most popular choice with 38% of the users desiring maximum deals on them. Shoppers also suggested preference for home décor, gifting items and ethnic wear.

Accordingly, Snapdeal worked closely with manufacturers to bring products for its customers at prices lower than last year. It added over 10,000 sellers in the last three months to increase its inventory of value priced merchandise.

Snapdeal’s focus this year is to offer a customised Diwali experience. That is why our Diwali sale selection is based on extensive users inputs. Through an expanded assortment and festive offers, our sellers have put together deals that will help buyers get more value for their spends this Diwali. We also have a special “Diwali@Home” selection that will cater to the unique needs of this year as users plan festivities in a safe environment,’ Snapdeal added.

Snapdeal’s Kum Mein Diwali sale will offer attractive deals on a vast selection of products covering kitchenware, kitchen appliances, home furnishing, home improvement products, fashion apparel including sarees, kurtis, suits and kids wear and fashion accessories like watches and wallets etc.

A “Diwali@Home” range will offer users smart solutions for making snacks, savouries, and sweets at home. A range of easy to use cleaning accessories to get homes Diwali ready will also be part of this selection.

Lights, decor, fragrances and furnishings will be given additional attention as India continues to mostly stay home to stay safe.

Comfortable yet trendy ethnic fashion for the at-home Diwali is being curated for the sale. Karaoke mics, pictionary, poker sets and other games to play at home during the Diwali break will also be part of the “Diwali-at-home” selection.

Regional art & craft, jewellery, handloom and textile products often seen in bazaars during Diwali season are also added to ensure shoppers do not miss out on the Diwali Mela experiences this year. This will also promote local artisans. Be it Jaipuri Razais, famous Bamboo and cane products from Manipur, brass Laxmi Ganesh idols from Orissa, or scented candles from NGOs – shoppers will find their favorite items on Snapdeal.

Snapdeal will also launch dedicated themed e-stores including Navratri, Karva Chauth, Dhanteras, among others to ease festive shopping.

Shoppers also have a chance to get additional discounts using HDFC, Bank of Baroda, and Ratnakar Bank cards. e-Wallet offers from companies like Paytm are also available. 

Given a majority of Snapdeal’s users are from non-metro cities, Snapdeal has launched a vernacular interface for its users. In the run up to Diwali, Snapdeal’ app is now available in eight languages including Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, Gujarati, Punjabi, and Marathi. A recent survey indicated that nearly 30% Snapdeal’s users prefer to browse using regional languages inputs.

Ahead of Diwali Snapdeal has also ramped up its logistics network by adding 25 new centres and plans to add more in coming weeks.
