Dubai, November 03, 2021: Local hypermarket chain, NESTO began its sustainability journey with leading renewable energy company, CleanMax, after installing a 2.5MW rooftop solar plant using tier-1 modules, lightweight aluminum mounting structures and highly efficient string inventors. The installation will substantially reduce energy costs supports the environment simultaneously with two more MW currently being put up that will go live by the end of the year and one MW under construction.

According to K. P Basheer, Chairman of Nesto Group, the solar plant can generate 4.3 million solar electricity units annually thanks to the sophisticated operations and maintenance techniques. It also maximises the use of the rooftop innovatively and monetizes the unused areas of the green driven facility.

Nesto’s objective is to reduce the organisation’s carbon footprint and support sustainability through the use of clean energy and efficient solar power solutions. The project will also abate 1860 tons of Co2 emissions, equivalent to taking 385 cars off the road.

However, based on the performance so far, the initiative is already exceeding all expectations by 105%. Currently, the solar plant facilitates 77% of all electricity need in the facility, making it one of the greenest warehouses in Dubai.

Nesto is committed to supporting the UAE’s sustainable future and its goals towards becoming a greener nation through green energy awareness and projects that mitigate carbon emissions.
