New Delhi, September  14, 2023:  Lindström India, the 100% subsidiary of Finland headquartered Lindström Oy, a global textile rental company providing workwear, cleanroom workwear, and mat services, has said that it is completely in line with Lindström’s global science-based climate targets in India as well.

Science-based target initiative (SBTi) defines and promotes best practices in emissions reductions and net-zero targets in line with climate science. The global community has committed to limiting global warming to 1.5 °C to avoid catastrophic climate change. Asia too has shown strong growth overall with a 127% increase in companies setting a science-based target in 2022. The SBTi assists companies in setting and attaining ambitious emission reduction targets based on the latest climate science.

Jayant Roy, Managing Director of Lindström India said, “Our focus is on sustainability and the global team has coordinated the extensive calculations and process with the SBTi and we in India believe that this only highlights Lindström’s resolve in reducing global greenhouse gas emissions and work for a sustainable environment”.

The current customers in India have already seen the changes and the validated targets provide credibility and transparency to customers and other stakeholders, and help customers report progress towards their goals.

Mr. Manas Kumar, Global Director and Head of Pharma and Strategic Marketing and Business Development Director Asia, Lindström said “By setting and achieving ambitious emission reduction targets, we seek to support our customers in their own sustainability aspirations, drive sustainability throughout the value chain, and contribute to a more sustainable future for all. Lindström’s target is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50% across the value chain by 2030, ultimately achieving net-zero emissions by 2050”.

Lindström Oy is among the over 3350 companies with their targets approved by the science-based climate targets, and among the over 390 companies globally with their net-zero targets approved. The number of companies setting science-based climate targets is growing, and now make a third of the global economy. In the year 2022 The SBTi reported a sharp rise in companies setting science-based targets, with 87% more businesses having their targets validated (1,097) than the previous year.
