the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, extended its association with the Haryana Police by setting up a two-wheeler training facility at the Haryana Police Academy in Karnal. The facility was established in association with United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
Hero MotoCorp also provided 35 new two-wheelers and helmets for the training facility. These vehicles will be used exclusively for training of women Police trainees.
The Company also provided a Riding Simulator and 70 helmets for the women police cadets. Thereby, contributing towards building safe riding capabilities among the women trainees at the Academy.
Mr. Vijay Sethi, Head – CSR & CIO, Hero MotoCorp, handed over the two-wheelers to Sh. K.K.Sindhu, IPS, Director, Haryana Police Academy, Madhuban, Karnal. Also present at the occasion were the representatives from Haryana Police Academy, Hero officials and members of the Hero Safety team.
On the occasion, Mr. Vijay Sethi, CIO & Head CSR, Hero MotoCorp said, “As the market leader and a responsible corporate citizen, Hero MotoCorp is committed to bringing improvements in our society through various initiatives. Two key areas of focus for Hero have been promoting Road Safety and women empowerment. We have a variety of programs that are running at national and regional levels and some of them are in association with the local police departments. We already have a strong partnership with the Haryana Police, through various initiatives and I’m confident that this new initiative will allow our joint efforts to bring about effective changes.”
Under the aegis of its CSR initiative, Ride Safe India, HMCL conducts various nationwide programs to promote road safety. These programs are designed keeping in mind Hero philosophy of delivering safety with products that it manufactures.
In March 2017, Hero MotoCorp supported the Haryana Police in setting-up an all-women first responder system in Gurugram. Hero MotoCorp provided 50 new Hero scooters to the lady constables of the Gurugram Police force. The Company also started a unique all-women first responder system ‘Cheeta’ in Haridwar, in association with Uttrakhnad Police earlier this month.
HMCL has already adopted Traffic Parks at Gurgaon, Delhi, Rourkela, Lucknow, Hyderabad and Nagpur, which are equipped with Riding Simulators and other state of the art facilities, where Road Safety awareness programs are conducted regularly for school/college students and other institutions along with local Traffic Police.
In association with Haryana Police, HMCL runs a Student Police Cadets (SPC) program, which has been a resounding success since its inception. Students from 50 schools in Gurgaon are enrolled in multiple activities to inculcate respect for law and community skills, and instil social values, while providing participants with physical fitness training.
HMCL has introduced a Mobile Safety Van, which sensitizes students across the country and also organises exclusive Ride Safe Programs on a regular basis for many leading corporate across India to enhance safety of their two-wheeler users.
