New Delhi, June 05, 2021: Despite the drastic impact of the Covid pandemic on the retail industry, Apple has said it will continue to expand the number of physical retail outlets.

“Discovering products”

The California-based tech giant has around 500 Apple stores worldwide, including approximately 100 in Europe. The company previously planned to expand its global store network, but since the outbreak of the Covid crisis and the accelerated shift to online sales, this has been called into question.

According to Bloomberg, Apple has now confirmed it is nonetheless going ahead with its expansion plans. The news agency based this on statements made by Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s senior vice president of retail and people, to the German Funke Mediengruppe. “On our website, people can learn a lot about the products,” O’Brien said. “In a store, they can touch and feel them. We plan to open more stores.”

O’Brien did not disclose more details. Nor is it clear whether the company plans to expand globally or only within the United States according to the reports published in retaildetail.eu.
