The EcoSport has had a good set of power train options, especially the 1.0 litre EcoBoost petrol engine alongside the 1.5 litre diesel and petrol units. However, the lack of a touchscreen infotainment system, even in its top-end versions did break the deal for some potential customers. In January 2017, the American car maker introduced the Platinum Edition of the EcoSport which is offered with a touchscreen infotainment unit as well as other cosmetic changes on the outside.
Now, the company has carried over the 8.0-inch touchscreen full-colour unit and silently added to the Titanium and Titanium Plus versions of the EcoSport model. The unit offers DVD video playback along with USB, AUX and Radio. In addition to this, the infotainment system also supports navigation, door ajar warning display and reverse parking camera. Other features such as silver accents on the dashboard and steering wheel remain the same. The only version not to get this system is the Titanium AT petrol trim which still has Ford’s Sync infotainment system.
The powertrain options in the Ford EcoSport remain the same and it is offered with a 1.5-litre petrol engine, a 1.5-litre diesel engine and a 1.0 litre EcoBoost petrol motor. The 1.5-litre petrol generates 111 hp of power and 140 Nm of torque while the diesel churns out 99 hp of power and 205 Nm of torque. The EcoBoost motor is smallest capacity one here, however, it still produces impressive performance figures, 124 hp of power and 170 Nm of torque. The diesel engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, while the EcoBoost motor comes with a 6-speed unit. The 1.5-litre petrol engine comes with a 5-speed manual as well as an automatic gearbox.
