New Delhi, March 28, 2018: Rapidly progressing on the path of development, India is getting smarter. After years of drooping in China’s shadow, India is now pacing up as the fastest growing economy in the world. Economists across the globe are inquisitive to know just what India has done,in the recent years, to give its economy a boost. Experts have determined that a sharp acceleration, fostered by the ‘Make in India’drive, has led to a major growth in the country’s economy.
Talking about the infrastructural developments, the government has announced two new urban development projects—Smart Cities Mission and Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT)—divulging the roadmap for building 100 smart cities and 500 AMRUT cities in the next five years.
The Government’s agenda is to ensure that adequate power is supplied, round the clock, at affordable prices. The objective is to increase the electricity generation by twofold, making it to two trillion units by 2019. For this, India has installed plants to commission a power generation capacity of 268,602.35 MW.
The country’s per capita power consumption, 940 kilowatt-hour (kWh), is among the lowest in the world. Around 280 million people in the country do not have access to electricity. Incomparison, China has a per capita consumption of 4,000kWh, with developed nationsaveraging around 15,000kWh per capita. Given the dismal state of transmission and distribution in the country, the potential investments in power sector are expected to be$250 billion, with transmission sector expected to account for 20 per cent, amounting to $50 billion.
The developing stream in the power sectorisactivated by a series of systemic reforms by companies like Diamond Power Infrastructure Ltd, also known as Dicabs. At present, thecompany is contributing to the economic growth by manufacturing cables, conductors, transformers, transmission and EPC contracts.Being among the handful home-grown player in a sector eyed by the global companies,Dicabs, led by Amit Bhatnagar, is the league of growing with the country’s economy.
At present, the company is powering India’s growth by providing solutions across the entire value chain of power transmission and distribution.
